Samsung Unveils Cutting-Edge M16 OLED Technology for Smartphones

In an exciting announcement today, Samsung Display showcased its latest innovation in smartphone display technology, introducing the M16 LTPO OLED panel. This groundbreaking display will soon be featured in the upcoming iQOO 16, promising a visual experience that sets a new industry standard.

The M16 display utilizes advanced luminescent materials, similar to those found in the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro series and iPhone Duo. But what truly sets this panel apart is its impressive capability to achieve peak local brightness levels of up to 10,000 nits, allowing for extraordinary visibility in high-light conditions. While this peak brightness is only achievable in localized areas of the screen for brief periods, the entire display maintains a global peak brightness rated at 2,800 nits, ensuring vibrant visuals throughout.

Equipped with Samsung's latest LEAD 2.0 technology, the M16 display also offers significant enhancements over earlier models, including better color accuracy and up to 30% reduced power consumption compared to the M14 panels. Additionally, it minimizes flickering through an impressive 3,300Hz pulse-width modulation (PWM) dimming technology.

Specifications of the iQOO 16 Display

The M16 panel will feature WQHD resolution (2,560 x 1,440 pixels), a variable refresh rate ranging from 1 to 165Hz, and an extraordinary 5,000Hz touch sampling rate, ensuring smooth and responsive interactions. Alongside these features, the display includes Samsung's anti-reflective coating and a polarizer-free design, incorporating RGB color filters directly onto the OLED layer. Expect to see Samsung's Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra models to adopt the innovative M16 OLED technology as well.
