Apple’s iPhone Duo is officially beginning to ship today, but anyone who missed the pre-order window may still face a long wait. For shoppers who want a large foldable right now, Samsung is making a strong case with a limited-time discount.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 remains the only major wide-style foldable currently available in the US. Motorola is reportedly working on a competing device, but it is still months away, and Google does not appear ready to launch a wide Pixel foldable anytime soon.

The iPhone Duo starts at $2,000 for the 256GB version. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 already has a lower base price, and with an additional $200 discount, it ends up about $300 cheaper than Apple’s folding phone.

Their front displays are nearly the same size, with Samsung offering a 5.5-inch cover screen versus Apple’s 5.4-inch panel. Inside, both devices use 7.6-inch screens with similar aspect ratios.
Battery capacity is also close, with the Galaxy Z Fold8 carrying a 4,800mAh cell compared to the iPhone Duo’s 4,883mAh battery. Actual runtime will likely depend on chipset efficiency. Samsung uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, while Apple relies on its A20 Pro chip.
Camera hardware follows a similar strategy. Neither phone includes a dedicated telephoto camera. The Galaxy Z Fold8 uses dual 50MP cameras, while the iPhone Duo features dual 48MP modules.
