Fiat’s Multiplina Concept Offers a Glimpse at Its Future Electric Micromobility Strategy

Source: Date:

Fiat is continuing to explore the future of compact, practical electric mobility with a new concept called the Multiplina. Following the recently revealed Multiplay concept, this latest study takes a more focused approach and is presented as a vision for tomorrow’s micromobility. While still clearly inspired by the spirit of the original Multipla, the Multiplina appears closer to a production-ready direction for future urban electric vehicles.

Unlike the more experimental Multiplay, which showcased a broader 3-in-1 concept, the Multiplina is being positioned as a compact model that blends the qualities of an SUV and an MPV. Fiat’s goal is to combine passenger comfort, interior flexibility, cargo capability, and outdoor versatility in a small electric vehicle. The brand suggests that the design is intended to make the most of every available inch, making it especially suited for city driving and everyday utility.

A modern take on a familiar name

Although Fiat has shared limited details about the concept, the design clearly references multiple generations of the Multipla nameplate. Styling cues appear to draw from the original Multipla of the 1950s, while also nodding to the much more unconventional model that arrived in the late 1990s. The result is a concept that feels both nostalgic and forward-looking, with a shape designed around practicality rather than traditional aesthetics.

The Multiplina is also expected to play a broader role within Fiat’s future electric lineup. The company has indicated that the concept could serve as the basis for multiple E-Car models rather than a single vehicle. One version is expected to be priced around €15,000, while another model based on the same idea is reportedly in development. According to comments made during Fiat’s Investor Day, both are expected to arrive around 2028.
