Volkswagen has today unveiled its fully electric compact SUV, the ID.Cross. While it shares several features with the earlier ID.Polo, Volkswagen aims for the ID.Cross to deliver a more premium experience.

Though compact on paper with dimensions of 4,150 mm in length and a 2,601 mm wheelbase, the ID.Cross boasts a spacious interior, especially when compared to competitors like the Renault 4.
The ID.Cross offers a generous 475-liter cargo space behind the rear seats, along with a rare 25-liter frunk for vehicles in this category.

In terms of drivetrain, the ID.Cross provides three FWD options. The entry-level model features a 37 kWh battery with a 114-hp motor, while the mid-tier offers a more powerful 133-hp motor with the same battery. The top configuration increases power to 208 hp, utilizing a 52 kWh battery pack.
According to WLTP data, the highest-end model offers a range of 436 km, while the entry-level variant can achieve 316 km on a single charge.

The ID.Cross supports charging up to 90 kW with a DC fast charger; its larger 52 kWh battery peak at around 105 kW. Volkswagen claims it takes just 24 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%. Additionally, the vehicle includes V2L functionality for enhanced capability.
Inside, the ID.Cross impresses with premium aesthetics and materials. The dashboard features cloth covers, while an abundance of hardware buttons eliminates the need for touch menus to operate functions like the AC. A 12.9-inch infotainment display comes as standard.

Depending on the trim chosen, options include matrix LED headlights, a panoramic glass roof, 12-way electric seats with massage functions, adaptive cruise control, and a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
The base model, featuring a 37-kWh battery and 144 hp, is attractively priced at €28,000, making it an excellent deal. European customers can anticipate its arrival on the market this fall.
