While many users may have found Apple Intelligence underwhelming, it has been accessible outside China. This, however, was not the case for users in China, where the service has been unavailable for the past 21 months since its initial launch.
Fortunately, this situation is set to change as Apple Intelligence has now received approval from the Chinese government. The service has been registered with the Chinese cyberspace regulator, which is a mandatory step for all AI products before they can launch in the country.

Reports suggest that Apple Intelligence will incorporate capabilities from AI models developed by Baidu and Alibaba. Alibaba has confirmed that its Qwen model will be integrated into Apple Intelligence across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and visionOS in China. Additionally, a spokesperson from Baidu confirmed that Apple is collaborating with Baidu to enhance Apple Intelligence features specifically for Chinese iPhone users.
Although Apple Intelligence is now legally permitted to operate in China, the regulatory announcement did not specify a launch date, which remains at the discretion of Apple.
