Google has broadened the availability of its Gemini feature in the Chrome browser, marking its entry into the UK market, which was previously missing from its rollout. This expansion began on desktop, with plans to extend to Chrome on iOS next month.
Gemini in Chrome offers a range of functionalities, including engaging in chat, summarizing open tabs, comparing information across multiple tabs, and retaining context from previous conversations. It can also generate and edit images using Nano Banana 2, all without requiring users to navigate away from their current page.
Furthermore, Gemini is seamlessly integrated with various Google applications such as Calendar, Maps, and Gmail, allowing users to ask questions about YouTube videos or locations in Maps effortlessly. Scheduling meetings and drafting emails is also streamlined.
Google emphasizes that Gemini models are designed to identify known threats, including prompt injection attacks, and feature safeguards to confirm sensitive actions before execution.
