Introducing Insta360 Luna Ultra: A Compelling Alternative to DJI Osmo Pocket 4P

Insta360 has officially launched its flagship handheld gimbal camera, the Luna Ultra, co-engineered with Leica. This vlogging-focused camera features a dual-camera system, similar to DJI’s upcoming Osmo Pocket 4P.

The Luna Ultra is equipped with a primary 1-inch sensor, an f/1.8 aperture, and a 20mm equivalent focal length. Additionally, it includes a telephoto camera with an f/2.0 aperture and a 60mm equivalent focal length, providing up to 3x optical zoom, 6x lossless zoom, and 12x digital zoom.

One of the standout features of the Luna Ultra is its detachable 2-inch touchscreen display. This screen allows users to employ it as a remote monitor and controller, enabling them to frame shots and record video from up to 20 meters away in HD resolution. Furthermore, it can be easily switched between portrait and landscape orientations.

The pocket gimbal camera is powered by a 1,550mAh battery that Insta360 claims can last up to four hours on a single charge, with support for fast charging. True to its gimbal camera design, the Luna Ultra features 3-axis mechanical stabilization and advanced functionalities like Deep Track 5.0 for enhanced subject tracking.

The Luna Ultra is capable of recording videos at resolutions of up to 8K at 30fps and capturing 4K footage at rates of up to 120fps, including slow-motion video at up to 240fps in 4K. It can also take photographs at up to 37MP in UltraPhoto mode, with panorama shots reaching up to 200MP resolution.

Supporting 10-bit video recording, the camera offers Dolby Vision and I-Log options. It comes with 47GB of built-in storage and supports microSD cards of up to 1TB. Audio is captured via a four-microphone array.

The Insta360 Luna Ultra is available in two finishes: Cosmic Black and Stellar White, with the Stellar White variant weighing in at 235g. Connectivity options are robust, featuring a USB Type-C port, Wi-Fi 6 support on the main camera unit, and Wi-Fi 4 for the detachable display.
