In February, we learned that Vivo was developing a vlogging camera aimed at competing with DJI's Osmo Pocket series. Recently, a new rumor from China indicates that Oppo is pursuing a similar project.
According to Digital Chat Station on Weibo, both Oppo and Vivo's upcoming devices will feature a 200MP camera equipped with a 1/1.12" sensor, which likely points to Sony's Lytia 901 announced last November.
DJI Osmo Pocket 4Oppo may collaborate with Hasselblad for its vlogging camera, while Vivo is expected to partner with Zeiss. Both devices will be powered by unspecified "flagship-level" chipsets and will offer seamless interconnectivity with their respective smartphone brands. This functionality will allow users to easily save, edit, and share captured content directly from their Oppo or Vivo smartphones.
The impressive success of the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 has not gone unnoticed, and both Oppo and Vivo are eager to claim a share of the market. However, they won't be alone in this endeavor. DJI is set to compete with itself by releasing both the Osmo Pocket 4 and the forthcoming Osmo Pocket 4P. Additionally, Insta360's Luna is also on the horizon, indicating a growing competitive landscape. Once a solitary leader, DJI's Osmo Pocket series now faces increasing competition.
