Xiaomi's EV Sales Surge Ahead of YU7 GT Launch: Record Deliveries and Ambitious Goals

Source: Date:

Xiaomi is rapidly establishing itself as a significant player in the automotive industry. The company recently announced impressive sales figures for April, delivering over 30,000 electric vehicles (EVs) to customers. This marks a substantial increase compared to March, when it sold 21,440 vehicles.

While the company has yet to release the official final numbers, surpassing the 30,000 milestone is noteworthy. Official data from the China Passenger Car Association is expected later this month. This sales increase reflects Xiaomi's recovery from earlier fluctuations this year and demonstrates its ability to manufacture and deliver vehicles at a faster pace than anticipated.

Xiaomi has set an ambitious target for itself this year, aiming to deliver 550,000 electric cars by the end of 2026. This would represent a more than 30% increase from the 410,000 vehicles sold in 2025. To achieve this goal, the company must maintain operational efficiency and customer satisfaction, a strategy that appears to be effective thus far.

A significant contributor to this success is the Xiaomi SU7, a newer model that has been gaining traction in the market. By late April, 60,000 customers had already placed orders for this model, with 26,000 deliveries completed shortly after its launch on March 19.

Another standout model for Xiaomi is the YU7 SUV, which has been exceptionally well-received since its introduction in June 2025. Competing directly with models like the Tesla Model Y, the YU7 has seen 231,000 units delivered within just ten months.

Xiaomi is also gearing up to launch the high-performance YU7 GT, a variant designed for sports car enthusiasts as well as long-distance comfort. The official launch is scheduled for the end of May.

As per government filings, the YU7 GT measures 5,015 mm in length, 2,007 mm in width, and 1,597 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm, offering ample interior space for passengers and luggage. Despite its size, the design emphasizes speed and agility.

The new model is equipped with two electric motors generating a combined output of 738 kW (approximately 990 hp), providing impressive performance for an SUV. Xiaomi claims the vehicle can achieve a top speed of 300 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in about two seconds.

Although such speed may be unnecessary for daily commuting, the YU7 GT boasts an impressive battery performance, capable of traveling 705 km on a single charge according to the CLTC testing cycle used in China. When it goes on sale, the expected price range is between RMB 450,000 and RMB 500,000, which translates to approximately €56,300 to €62,500. As of the end of April, Xiaomi operated 495 stores across 143 cities and plans to expand to additional locations throughout May.
