Samsung Diversifies Display Supply Chain, Opts for Chinese Panels in Mid-Range Smartphones

Source: Date:

A recent report from Korea reveals that Samsung is diversifying its display supply chain. This decision leads to an interesting scenario where Samsung Electronics will cease purchasing screens from Samsung Display for certain mid-range devices, choosing instead to source from CSOT, a subsidiary of TCL.

CSOT's panels are reportedly at least 20% more affordable than those from Samsung, indicating that this strategy may be aimed at alleviating rising memory costs by reducing overall device expenses in the mid-range segment. Allegedly, Samsung has placed an order for 15 million display panels from CSOT, which are intended for the upcoming Galaxy A57 and several unnamed FE models set to enter production in April (potentially the Galaxy S26 FE?).

Understandably, this move has not been well received by Samsung Display, which reportedly attempted to persuade senior executives within the company to reverse this decision, but to no avail.
