Nothing has officially announced the rollout of a new update for its recently launched Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro. This update to Nothing OS introduces several new features, including enhancements to Live Updates on the Glyph Bar and the addition of a Relaxation Hub.
The update incorporates Android 16’s Live Updates, allowing apps that support real-time updates to utilize the Glyph Bar on the Nothing Phone (4a) to display their progress. This feature is functional across the always-on display, lock screen, status bar, and notification areas.
Moreover, a new Relaxation Hub has been introduced, which includes Breathing Break widgets. Users can access these widgets via the widget library, featuring modes like Focus, Relax, and Calm, each accompanied by unique haptic patterns.
Additionally, the update adds recommended apps to the Essential Apps drawer, enabling users to add these applications directly to their home screen.
A new lock screen clock face, inspired by the Phone (3), has also been included. It features a unique typeface and a wake-up animation. Other enhancements consist of Depth Effect capabilities, along with adjustable clock sizes and alignment options for personalized lock screen customization.
Finally, an AI Eraser feature has been added to the Gallery app. This tool operates on-device to automatically detect and remove unwanted elements from photos, while still allowing users the option to manually select objects for removal.
The update is currently being rolled out to the Nothing Phone (4a) series and will also be available for older devices at a later date. It includes the March Android security patch as well.
The Nothing Phone (4a) is currently available for purchase in multiple regions, while the Phone (4a) Pro is scheduled to go on sale in the coming days.
