Earlier this week, a report indicated that Apple would integrate parts of its updated Siri into the iOS 26.4 update. However, a more recent report now suggests that this release has been delayed.

According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple has encountered multiple issues with the new Siri during its internal testing phases.

Gurman: Apple's new Siri delayed again, will not be included in iOS 26.4

Gurman mentions that the revamped Siri will most likely be included in the iOS 26.5 update, projected for release in May. Other anticipated features are expected to debut only with iOS 27 in September.

The report highlights several challenges internal testers faced with the upgraded Siri, including slow response times, inaccurate handling of queries, difficulties with processing complex questions, unexpected transitions to ChatGPT rather than utilizing Apple’s own models, and issues understanding rapid speech. In some cases, users experienced interruptions mid-sentence.

Furthermore, it is reported that current internal builds of iOS 26.5 include a toggle designed to preview a feature enabling Siri to access personal data. Additionally, the rollout of the 'app intents' functionality for Siri is also reportedly behind schedule.

Moreover, the internal builds for iOS 26.5 are said to feature a web search tool and image generation capabilities. However, these enhancements are not expected to be part of the forthcoming iOS 26.4 update, meaning users will need to wait longer to experience some of the rumored advancements for Siri.
