MediaTek has announced its latest flagship mobile chipset, the Dimensity 9500s, which follows the introduction of the Dimensity 9500 last September. The company has also unveiled the mid-range Dimensity 8500 chipset.
Like its predecessor, the Dimensity 9500s utilizes an ‘All Big Core’ architecture and is manufactured using a cutting-edge 3nm process.
MediaTek Dimensity 9500s

The Dimensity 9500s features a primary Arm Cortex-X925 Ultra core operating at 3.73GHz, accompanied by three Cortex-X4 premium cores and four Cortex-A720 performance cores. For graphics, it integrates an Immortalis-G925 GPU that supports advanced ray tracing, adaptive game technology 3.0, and frame technology 3.0. Additionally, it is equipped with a flagship NPU designed for generative reasoning and multi-modal models.
This chipset incorporates the MediaTek Imagiq image processor, enabling real-time motion tracking at up to 30fps, 8K 60fps video recording with Dolby Vision HDR, and effective noise reduction. It can support camera sensors up to 320MP and WQHD+ displays at refresh rates of up to 180Hz.
The 9500s chipset is compatible with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4 storage. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 7, dual SIM dual active 5G, GPS, BeiDou, Glonass, Galileo, NavIC, QZSS, Bluetooth 5.4, and the MediaTek UltraSave 4.0 power-saving technology.
MediaTek Dimensity 8500

The Dimensity 8500 also employs an All Big Core CPU design but is manufactured using a more efficient 4nm process. It comprises eight Cortex-A725 cores, which can clock up to 3.4GHz. The chipset features a Mali-G720 GPU that reportedly delivers a 25% increase in performance while reducing power consumption by 20% compared to its predecessor.
This SoC supports LPDDR5X 4-channel RAM and UFS 4 storage, and incorporates a MediaTek 8th-gen NPU (880), compatible with various large language and image generation models.
In terms of connectivity, it offers Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, the same GPS satellite support as the flagship 9500s, dual SIM dual active 5G, and MediaTek UltraSave 3.0+.
For imaging capabilities, the Dimensity 8500 supports a maximum camera sensor of 320MP, 4K video recording at 60fps, and display resolutions up to WQHD+ with a refresh rate of 144Hz.
