Jeep Compass 4xe demonstrates winter off-road ability in new “Master the impossible” promo

In the final episode of Stellantis’ “Master the impossible” series, the Jeep Compass 4xe takes on one of the toughest winter environments possible: the snow-covered and ice-laden roads of Arjeplog, Sweden. The new promo highlights how the plug-in hybrid Compass can stay composed while driving over slippery off-road terrain, deep snow and icy surfaces that would challenge many conventional 4x4s.

The video showcases the Compass 4xe’s ability to move confidently through demanding winter conditions, thanks in large part to its dual electric-motor setup. The front axle is equipped with a 157-kW motor, while the rear axle receives a 132-kW motor. An electronic management system continuously balances power between the two motors and adjusts output in real time, helping the vehicle maintain traction when grip is limited.

A key part of the performance is Jeep’s Selec-Terrain system, which provides five driving modes tailored to different road and weather conditions: Auto, Sport, Sand and Mud, Snow and 4WD Lock. In the latest episode, the focus is on Snow mode, which calibrates the transmission, throttle response and 4x4 settings to reduce tire slip and preserve stability. The system also uses around 80 percent of the vehicle’s maximum power, aiming for smooth and controlled driving rather than maximum acceleration.

With always-engaged all-wheel drive, fine-tuned traction control and electronic stability programming, the Compass 4xe is designed to remain balanced even when surfaces become unpredictable. The result is a vehicle that can handle winter off-road challenges with composure, demonstrating why electric torque and terrain-specific calibration matter when the road turns to snow and ice.
