Samsung's Android XR Intelligent Eyewear May Arrive in South Korea and the US in Mid-December

Samsung's first pair of Android XR smart glasses may finally have a launch window. According to a new report from South Korea, the company's Intelligent Eyewear is expected to become available in mid-December, initially only in South Korea and the United States.

The limited rollout appears to be part of a cautious strategy. Samsung reportedly wants to gauge consumer response in the two launch markets before widening distribution to other regions. The report says Europe, China, and Japan will not receive the glasses at first, while pricing is still undecided.

This follows a similar path with Samsung's Galaxy XR headset, which debuted in South Korea and the US in October and later expanded to the UK in July. If the glasses follow the same timeline, international buyers may have to wait longer for local availability.

The Intelligent Eyewear will run Android XR with Gemini built in. It does not include a display, but it is equipped with a camera, microphones, and speakers. The glasses can provide real-time translation, voice-based navigation, and help capture documents or meetings, automatically organizing them in the Notes app on a paired Galaxy phone. Under the hood, Samsung is using the Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset and has claimed up to nine hours of battery life on a single charge.

Design is another notable part of the launch. The frames have been developed in collaboration with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, with four styles shown so far, including two unveiled at Google I/O in May and two at Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event. Pricing and exact launch dates have yet to be officially confirmed.
