Strava Expands AI Access with Google Gemini Integration for Personalized Training Insights

Source: Date:

Strava is giving subscribers a new way to dig deeper into their training data. Following its earlier launch of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) connector for Claude, Strava has now introduced direct integration with Google Gemini, bringing more personalized and contextual workout insights to users.

With the new connection, Gemini can analyze a Strava subscriber's activity history and answer questions about performance trends. For example, it can assess whether a runner is getting faster at the same heart rate, evaluate how strength training may be influencing results, or provide a detailed breakdown of a recent race.

Gemini can also compare a user's fastest 10K this year with their all-time best, identify their longest running streak on Strava, and even consider whether weather conditions affected performance.

Strava emphasized that connecting to Gemini is entirely optional and read-only. Subscribers can choose to link their accounts and can disconnect at any time. The integration is available to Strava users on all Gemini plans, though currently only in the United States.

To set up the integration, users can open Google Gemini, navigate to Personal Intelligence, select Strava under connected apps, sign in with their Strava account, and authorize the connection.
