As anticipation builds for the unveiling of the Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max set for tomorrow in China, Xiaomi has disclosed significant details about the camera systems featured in these flagship smartphones. Alongside the specs, a selection of sample photos taken with the devices has also been showcased, giving us a sneak peek of what to expect from their photography capabilities.
In recent posts on Weibo, Xiaomi detailed the impressive hardware specifications of the dual 200MP rear camera setup on the 18 Pro series.
The flagship models will boast a Leica 200MP main rear camera featuring a 1/1.28 inch sensor, complemented by a 200MP periscope telephoto camera equipped with a 1/1.56 inch sensor.
This advanced telephoto camera is designed with an f/2.4 aperture, enabling 3.2x optical zoom. It has a native focal length of 75mm and can achieve macro focus from just 12cm away.
Xiaomi claims the telephoto camera on the 18 Pro captures 280% more light compared to the previous 17 Pro model, while the 18 Pro Max reportedly enhances light intake by 83% over the 17 Pro Max.
In addition to these specifications, Xiaomi has provided several camera samples showcasing the capabilities of the new main and telephoto cameras within the 18 Pro series.
The upcoming launch will also introduce new features, including an upgraded rear display, enhanced privacy display options, and larger batteries compared to their predecessors.
Powering the Xiaomi 18 series will be Qualcomm's latest yet-to-be-announced chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.
