Snap Inc., the company previously known for its popular Snapchat platform, has officially launched pre-orders for its latest innovation—Specs, a line of augmented reality (AR) glasses. This new generation of glasses represents a significant leap in technology, as they promise standalone functionality without necessitating a connection to a smartphone or computer. Below is everything you need to know about the Specs AR glasses, including their features and pricing options.

The upcoming Specs AR glasses are priced at $2,195, featuring a transparent display with a 51-degree field of view that provides an immersive experience akin to viewing a 115" screen from a distance of 10 feet. Equipped with impressive features like dual Snapdragon processors, a camera indicator light, and a magnetic 5-pin charging interface, these glasses are designed for performance and ease of use.

Specifications and Features

Constructed with a TR90 frame, Specs are available in two sizes: 47mm narrow and 52mm wide. Users will benefit from advanced voice and gesture controls, open-ear stereo speakers, and six built-in microphones. The glasses also come with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities, and can even be tailored with prescription lenses for those who need them.

For users interested in cellular connectivity, Specs can be upgraded to include data plans through an exclusive partnership with Verizon, bringing the total price to $2,395. Data plans for these glasses begin at $10 per month for existing Verizon customers or $20 for new customers.

Currently, the Wi-Fi-only version of Specs is "expected to ship" this fall, though Verizon has yet to release any shipping estimates for the cellular version. Stay tuned for further updates as they become available.
