The number of pre-orders not only highlights the growing popularity of foldable phones but also marks a significant milestone for Samsung in the smartphone market.
To appreciate this achievement, let's put the figures into perspective. Previous models, such as the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5, set a record for foldables with 1.02 million pre-orders, while the Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 fell to a low of 0.91 million. However, the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 rebounded slightly, reaching 1.04 million in their pre-order week. The record-breaking sales of the Galaxy Z8 series, therefore, signify a strong resurgence in consumer interest.
The pre-order triumph of the Z8 devices extends beyond foldables; it sets an overall record within Samsung's lineup, overtaking the earlier S-series flagships. Just this year, the Galaxy S26 generation managed to secure 1.35 million pre-orders in a week, making the Z8 series’ accomplishment particularly noteworthy as it surpasses both the Note and S series.
