Amazon Prime Video Partners with Samsung to Launch HDR10+ Advanced Format

In an exciting announcement for streaming enthusiasts, Amazon's Prime Video will become the pioneer in adopting Samsung's cutting-edge HDR10+ Advanced technology. This new format is set to roll out on "supported titles globally" starting later this month, but viewers will need a 2026 Samsung TV model to experience its enhanced features.

HDR10+ Advanced represents a significant upgrade over the original HDR10+ format, offering Enhanced Overall Brightness. According to an official press release, this feature employs extended statistical metadata to fully harness the brightness capabilities of premium televisions, resulting in brighter, more precise HDR images that span the complete tonal range.

The new format also incorporates "AI-driven" tone mapping, which aims to retain shadow details in darker scenes while enhancing brightness in high-action content like sports. This means viewers can enjoy a more dynamic visual experience without sacrificing detail.

Another innovative feature of HDR10+ Advanced is Intelligent Motion Smoothing. This capability utilizes scene-by-scene metadata to enable compatible displays to dynamically adjust their motion processing. The result is a preservation of the cinematic feel in films, paired with smooth, natural motion for fast-paced scenes, such as sports and action sequences.
