Weekly Poll: Which Device Do You Prefer for Gaming – Smartphone, Tablet, PC, or Console?

Source: Date:

The gaming market has faced significant challenges this decade. First, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the launch of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Following that, the crypto boom depleted the availability of GPUs, and now AI has made RAM chips highly sought after.

This has resulted in rising prices for smartphones, while PCs and consoles are similarly affected. Popular devices like the PS5, Xbox, Steam Deck, and Nintendo Switch have all seen price increases. Moreover, even subscription services are feeling the impact; for instance, Microsoft reconsidered its plan to raise Game Pass prices after receiving strong backlash from consumers.

Weekly poll: what device do you use for gaming? A smartphone, tablet, PC or console?

The situation is severe enough that Nvidia is re-releasing the GeForce RTX 3060, initially launched in 2020. Meanwhile, AMD is bringing back the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which debuted in 2022, and Intel is reportedly exploring new designs compatible with DDR4 RAM.

Smartphones rarely re-use old silicon, though exceptions do occur. The challenge lies in the high costs of cutting-edge manufacturing nodes, resulting in flagship and high-end gaming phones becoming more expensive, while even mid-range devices are now experiencing price hikes.

Given these various factors, we invite you to share your gaming preferences. Do you favor a PC, perhaps an x86 handheld device, or an ARM handheld like the Switch? Alternatively, do you use a home console or a game streaming service? Or maybe you prefer gaming on a tablet or smartphone?
