This situation has led to increased prices among smartphone manufacturers, while PCs and consoles haven’t escaped unscathed either. Notably, the prices of the PS5, Xbox, Steam Deck, and Nintendo Switch have all risen. This trend is seen across many high-profile products. Even gaming services are feeling the strain; Microsoft considered a price hike for Game Pass but opted against it after significant customer backlash.
The situation is so critical that Nvidia is re-launching the GeForce RTX 3060, originally released in 2020, while AMD is reviving the Ryzen 7 5800X3D from 2022. Intel is also reportedly exploring new designs compatible with DDR4 RAM.
Unlike other sectors, smartphones rarely reuse older chips, although instances do occur. The challenge lies in the cost of manufacturing cutting-edge technologies, resulting in increased prices for flagship and high-end gaming phones. Mid-range devices are now following suit.
