Although there has been no official statement from either company yet, Trump's claims align with previous rumors suggesting that Apple is considering reintegrating Intel into its supply chain.
This partnership between Intel and Apple could yield significant advantages. By collaborating with Intel, Apple aims to diversify its chip supply chain for iPhones, Macs, and iPads. Currently, Apple heavily relies on TSMC, which is facing production challenges to meet rising demands from the AI sector. Consequently, Apple finds itself competing with Nvidia and AMD for TSMC's limited production capacity.
For Intel, securing a contract with Apple represents a critical opportunity for the company, which has encountered numerous challenges in recent years. However, Intel appears to be on the upswing, having recently introduced new 18A manufacturing technology and witnessing an increase in demand for its CPUs.
This initiative is also beneficial for the current U.S. Administration. With Apple and Intel focusing on domestic chip manufacturing, the collaboration will create jobs and attract investments while reducing dependence on China and Taiwan. The U.S. government has announced a $10 billion investment in Intel to enhance domestic production and is working to secure essential minerals and semiconductors for the American supply chain.
