Xiaomi's upcoming Mix Fold 5 has reportedly received certification for sale in China under the model number 2608BPX34C. This development is notable as it occurs ahead of the launch of any devices from the Xiaomi 18 series.
This certification could indicate that the Mix Fold 5 may not debut alongside the Xiaomi 18 family in September, but rather in mid-August, a timeframe that often sees significant announcements from the company.
Xiaomi Mix Fold 4In contrast to the Xiaomi 18 series, the Mix Fold 5 is not reliant on Qualcomm's unveiling of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset, as it will feature Xiaomi's own Xring O3 SoC, an enhanced successor to last year’s O1.
As for specifications, the foldable smartphone is expected to feature a 7.5" to 7.6" inner display with a seamless crease, a 200MP camera, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a robust 6,000 mAh battery capable of wireless charging. Additionally, the Mix Fold 5 is anticipated to be the first device to launch with the next-generation HyperOS, which is based on Android 17. However, the rumored price is a concern, estimated at CNY 10,000 or approximately $1,479 at the current exchange rate.
