In May, it was reported that Apple had reached the final stages of development for its camera-equipped AirPods. Now, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has provided an updated timeline for the expected launch of these innovative earbuds.
According to Gurman, citing sources familiar with the situation, the AirPods featuring built-in cameras are anticipated to debut in late 2027. They will reportedly be released alongside Apple's next-generation foldable iPhone and a special edition to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the iPhone.

Additionally, Gurman noted that the upcoming AirPods will include external indicator lights on the stems to alert those nearby whenever data is being sent to the cloud.
The built-in cameras are designed to enhance Siri's ability to understand the user's environment, enabling more contextually aware responses. Apple has branded this capability as Visual Intelligence. The report also mentions that Apple is investigating features such as contextual reminders and turn-by-turn walking directions, utilizing the cameras to assist users.
