A few days ago, Google announced Gemini Intelligence, which appears to be more than a rebranding effort. This impressive feature set can automate multi-step tasks, executing them entirely in the background. It can source and transform information, and automatically interact with various apps and websites on your behalf. A standout component is the "Rambler" feature coming to Gboard, which allows users to speak naturally, incorporating filler words and even mixing languages within the same sentence. Be sure to check out the demos linked in the article if you haven't already.

However, don’t expect to see Gemini Intelligence on just any Android device. Currently, it is expected to debut on Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Flip8 devices. Google has confirmed that the Galaxy S26 series and Pixel 10 series will also receive the feature "this summer."
Furthermore, a note on the official Android.com website describes Gemini Intelligence as a premium and exclusive feature for now. The minimum requirements are at least 12GB of RAM, indicating that the devices supporting Gemini Intelligence must have significant capabilities. Additionally, the host device needs to support AICore, an Android system service that allows apps to perform AI tasks using an on-device Gemini Nano model. Specifically, Gemini Intelligence requires Gemini Nano v3 or higher, which is currently supported by only a handful of devices.

Moreover, there are several additional requirements for devices to support Gemini Intelligence, such as having a qualified SOC (flagship chip) and passing the launch test suite on A17+. Devices must also meet performance benchmarks with low crash rates and provide five OS upgrades along with six years of quarterly security updates. They should support the Android Virtualization Framework (AVF) and pKVM (Protected Kernel-based Virtual Machine), with vague performance expectations for media and gaming specified.
This creates a very exclusive category of devices. Interestingly, a recent specs leak suggested that the non-Pro models of the Google Pixel 11 family may only come with 8GB of RAM, implying they won't support Gemini Intelligence. Any speculation around this is as good as yours, but it does seem implausible.
