Honor has officially launched its highly anticipated Robot Phone in China, marking a significant innovation in smartphone technology. This groundbreaking device combines advanced imaging capabilities with a robotic touch, making it a standout in the competitive smartphone landscape. With its impressive 200MP titanium gimbal camera and numerous smart features, the Honor Robot Phone sets a new benchmark for mobile photography and AI interaction.

Introducing the Honor Robot Phone

The Honor Robot Phone is a flagship Android device that features an innovative gimbal camera system on its back. The design is notable for its complexity, as Honor executed over 60 manufacturing processes involving more than 100 precision components to bring this product to market.

Honor Robot Phone

According to Honor, the Robot Phone holds over 100 patents and boasts the smallest titanium gimbal system in the industry. At 65% smaller than conventional gimbals, such as those found in DJI's Osmo Pocket series, this device is incredibly compact and efficient. The pioneering 4D gimbal system includes a lightweight 2.6g titanium gimbal motor that is only 6mm thin, and the entire assembly fits seamlessly within the phone's 9.6mm profile. However, the phone weighs in at a hefty 248 grams.

Gimbal Features in the Honor Robot Phone

The gimbal incorporates a 1/1.28” camera sensor with a remarkable 200MP resolution and an f/1.6 aperture. Users can capture stunning 4K videos and make adjustments to gimbal settings using voice commands, such as orienting the camera or focusing on a specific target. This device also includes AI subject tracking, enabling real-time framing and tracking during activities like vlogging or video calls.

A Smart Companion

The gimbal also functions as a unique robotic companion through Honor’s Yoyo AI assistant, capable of interacting with its environment, observing, and carrying out tasks autonomously. It is designed with over 100 facial expressions and has the ability to nod, peek, and even dance to music.

Collaboration with Arri

The Robot Phone is a result of a partnership between Honor and renowned German cinema equipment brand Arri. This collaboration allows for native Log-C3 video encoding and LUT color grading directly on the device. Additionally, a dedicated cinema mode mimics the aesthetics of Arri cinema cameras.

The camera system also includes a 200MP periscope telephoto lens (1/1.4”) featuring 2.7x optical zoom and a 50MP ultrawide lens, which doubles as a macro camera for close-up photography.

Beyond the impressive camera system, the Honor Robot Phone offers a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 2,640 x 1,216 pixels and a variable refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120Hz. With a peak local brightness measured at 6,800 nits and AR anti-reflective coating, visibility in bright conditions is significantly enhanced.

Underneath its sleek surface, the Robot Phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, with configurations offering up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The device operates on MagicOS 10, which is based on Android 16. Additionally, it is equipped with a 7,060mAh Si-C battery that supports both 120W wired and 50W wireless charging.

Honor Robot Phone Features

The Honor Robot Phone will be available in Silver and Gray color options. The pricing for the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage variant is set at CNY 9,999 ($1,482), while the 16GB RAM and 1TB storage model will retail for CNY 12,999 ($1,927).

Sales in China will commence on August 18, though it remains uncertain if the device will make its way to international markets, with indications suggesting it may initially be limited to China.
