Enhancements to Apple's AirTag 2: Improved Anti-Stalking Features

Source: Date:

Apple has made significant strides in enhancing the safety features of its second-generation AirTag tracker, originally launched in January. A recent firmware update has introduced critical improvements aimed at combating unwanted tracking and ensuring user security.

The latest update, firmware version 3.0.45, includes various bug fixes alongside enhancements to the unwanted tracking feature, commonly known as anti-stalking. An important aspect of this update is the refinement of the unwanted tracking sound, which is now designed to be more easily located using Precision Finding.

If you find yourself being tracked by an unknown AirTag, your iPhone will now notify you indicating that an unfamiliar AirTag has been moving with you. Users can then activate Precision Finding to pinpoint the location of the AirTag and prompt it to emit a sound for easier identification. The updated alert sound aims to be more noticeable, enhancing the chances of discovering the unwanted tracking device.

This firmware update is automatically applied, requiring no action from users. To verify if your AirTag has received the update, simply check the firmware version within the Find My app.
