Strong Sales Projected for MacBook Neo Amid Rumors of Neo 2 Changes

Last week, Apple unveiled the MacBook Neo, its most affordable MacBook to date, though it's not necessarily a budget device—rather, it's priced lower than other MacBook models.

The Neo is anticipated to ship between 4.5 and 5 million units this year, with projected sales of 2 to 2.5 million before the end of June. Currently, Quanta is the sole assembler for the laptop, but Foxconn may become a secondary supplier in the future.

Additionally, Luxshare is actively pursuing the role of assembler for the Neo 2 as part of its strategy to become the largest laptop assembler in the world, following rapid expansion of its Windows laptop assembly operations in the past one to two years.

Regarding the MacBook Neo 2, initial plans included a touchscreen feature; however, renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that this could change. It's possible Apple has recognized that the Neo line can perform well without the added expense of a touchscreen. It seems that Apple intends to keep this feature exclusive to the MacBook Ultra, which represents the highest price point in the MacBook lineup.

Kuo also foresees that competing laptops will likely become more expensive towards the end of the year due to rising memory costs, making the MacBook Neo appear more appealing in comparison. While this remains to be seen, it certainly isn't outside the realm of possibility.
