Oppo's Chief Product Officer, Pete Lau, has announced a global patent licensing agreement between Oppo and Audi.
This deal grants Audi the rights to use Oppo's patents related to essential 5G technology. In his announcement on X, Lau emphasized that this collaboration will "combine wireless innovation with automotive excellence to enhance connectivity for a smarter driving experience."
It is important to note that licensing agreements for essential patents are common in the industry. This agreement does not imply any joint development or partnership beyond the licensing terms.
Simply put, Audi will pay Oppo to use its essential 5G patents, enabling Audi to integrate Oppo’s patented technology into their vehicles.
