Google’s move builds upon their previous effort with Pixel phones, which allowed recording up to 45 minutes of video via the Personal Safety app that was automatically uploaded to Google Cloud. However, that earlier approach depended heavily on cloud storage availability and user activation, limiting its effectiveness.
The new system shifts control to emergency dispatchers, who can request the live video stream during an emergency call, minimizing the burden on the individual in distress and offering faster assistance.
