Subaru has long been synonymous with all-wheel drive, but the brand is now evolving as it delves deeper into the electric vehicle market. Introducing the 2026 Subaru Uncharted, an entry-level electric crossover set to arrive at US dealerships early next year, starting at $34,995. This price undercuts Subaru's existing Solterra model by $3,500.
The Uncharted shares much of its design with the Toyota C-HR, exhibiting different bumpers and lighting features, yet maintaining a very familiar appearance. While Subaru’s independence in design has diminished, the collaboration brings a practical, proven platform to their lineup.

The lineup begins with the Uncharted Premium front-wheel-drive model, marking Subaru’s first FWD vehicle in the US in many years. Powered by a single front motor producing 221 horsepower (165 kW), this model offers an estimated driving range exceeding 300 miles. It is equipped with a 74.7 kWh battery pack and supports fast charging via the NACS port, allowing a charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 28 minutes.
For buyers seeking Subaru’s traditional all-wheel-drive capability, the mid-level Uncharted Sport starts at $39,795. This model features a dual-motor AWD system delivering 338 horsepower (252 kW), representing a significant performance upgrade. Despite slightly reduced efficiency, Subaru estimates a driving range of over 285 miles on a single charge. The Sport trim also boasts enhanced interior features, including StarTex upholstery, a heated leather steering wheel, and driver’s seat memory functions.

The Uncharted offers a contemporary and practical design, closely mirroring the sharp styling of the Toyota C-HR. Standard features across all trims include LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and a power liftgate. The vehicle maintains a respectable 8.2 inches of ground clearance, suitable for light off-road conditions.
Inside, the cabin embraces a clean, minimalist aesthetic. Drivers benefit from a 7-inch digital instrument cluster paired with a large 14-inch infotainment touchscreen that supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Comfort and convenience features such as heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic climate control are standard. Subaru’s comprehensive EyeSight driver assistance suite—including Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind-Spot Monitoring, and Lane Departure Prevention—is included throughout the range.

At the top of the lineup is the Uncharted GT, priced at $43,795. It offers the same powerful dual-motor AWD system as the Sport but adds premium touches like a panoramic glass roof and 20-inch dark gunmetal wheels. Buyers can also opt for a two-tone paint scheme for an additional $970. Interior upgrades include heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and an 11-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system. The extra luxury features slightly reduce the estimated range, but Subaru still projects over 270 miles per charge.
By offering a choice between an efficient high-range FWD model and a powerful AWD variant starting just below $35,000, Subaru delivers flexibility and value in a competitive electric crossover segment. The 2026 Uncharted solidifies Subaru’s presence in the growing EV market, combining capability and rich features, albeit with a visibly strong Toyota influence.
