Once known for its compact two-seaters, Smart is now entering the larger vehicle market with the new Smart #6 EHD. Officially revealed through China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), this latest model signals Smart’s ambition to compete in the growing segment of electrified family sedans.
The Smart #6 EHD has evolved far beyond its brand’s small-car roots, measuring a substantial 16.1 feet in length. It also spans 6.3 feet in width and stands 4.95 feet tall. With a wheelbase of 9.58 feet, the sedan promises a spacious and comfortable interior.

The design of the #6 is sleek and contemporary. A continuous light strip stretches across the front, creating a distinctive and commanding road presence. Below this, smaller side vents flank a larger central grille.
From the side, hidden door handles and multi-spoke rims enhance the modern look. The rear end presents a muscular stance, featuring a full-width taillight and a subtly concave trunk lid that adds depth to the design.

The Smart #6 EHD is Smart’s first sedan but not its first hybrid. It is powered by Geely’s advanced NordThor Hybrid 2.0 system, which pairs a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 320 kW (429 horsepower). This powertrain is shared with the brand’s earlier plug-in model, the Smart #5 EHD.
Energy is stored in an LFP battery supplied by either SVOLT or CATL. The battery can charge from 10% to 80% in under 20 minutes, although exact capacity details remain undisclosed. Depending on the trim, the vehicle’s curb weight ranges from 4,387 to 4,627 pounds.

Smart claims a pure electric range of 177 miles and a total driving range of 1,125 miles, measured by the Chinese CLTC cycle. The powertrain includes a three-speed dual-clutch hybrid transmission (DHT), promising fuel efficiency of less than 0.14 cubic feet of gasoline per 62 miles.
Equipped with a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, the Smart #6 EHD suggests advanced driver assistance and semi-autonomous driving capabilities. Additional customization options include multiple headlight and taillight designs, various brake caliper colors, and a choice of 19-inch or 20-inch wheels.

The Smart #6 EHD is expected to launch early next year, joining the expanding range alongside the Smart #1, #3, and #5. This new large family sedan signals Smart’s clear intent to evolve beyond its niche and compete with established automakers in the electrified sedan segment.
