Vivo S50 Series Set to Launch Next Week in China

Vivo is poised to unveil its highly anticipated S50 lineup consisting of two models: the Vivo S50 and the Vivo S50 Pro Mini. The official launch date has been confirmed for December 15 in China, though details about an international release remain undisclosed.

The company revealed that the standard Vivo S50 will be available in four distinct colors—Confession White, Inspirational Purple, Space Black, and Serene Blue—while the S50 Pro Mini will come in three color variants. These options are aimed at offering users more personalization for their devices.

Images released alongside the announcement showcase the differing rear camera designs for both phones. The Vivo S50 Pro Mini houses a horizontally aligned triple camera setup, visually reminiscent of the iPhone Air’s camera module. In contrast, the standard S50 features a unique arrangement with two cameras placed vertically and a telephoto lens positioned diagonally between them.

Although specific camera details have yet to be officially confirmed, several reports hint that both phones will sport a 50MP front camera combined with a Sony IMX882 periscope lens. The S50 Pro Mini is expected to utilize a 50MP Sony IMX921 as its primary sensor, while the Vivo S50 may be equipped with a 50MP LYT-700V primary camera.

Regarding performance, rumors suggest the S50 Pro Mini will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, the same processor anticipated to be featured in the OnePlus 15R. Meanwhile, the standard S50 model might run on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. Both devices are likely to ship with Android 16 out of the box, customized with Vivo’s OriginOS 6 interface.

Competing in the Mid-Range Market

December promises to be an exciting month for smartphone enthusiasts, with several mid-range devices launching globally. The OnePlus 15R is expected to debut worldwide on December 17, just two days after Vivo launches the S50 series in China. The S50 Pro Mini, anticipated to enter international markets as the Vivo X300 FE, will be positioned as a more affordable counterpart to the Vivo X300.

With many shared features—including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor—the Vivo S50 Pro Mini and OnePlus 15R are set to compete in the sub-$600 price bracket, providing consumers with attractive options for high-performance devices at accessible price points.
