After numerous leaks and a prototype preview, Samsung has officially introduced its first tri-fold smartphone: the Galaxy Z TriFold. Representing over 16 foldable devices in Samsung’s lineup, this model features the largest screen ever seen on a Galaxy foldable, combined with innovative software and flagship-level specifications.

The standout hardware innovation is its dual titanium hinges, designed to fully protect the main folding screen when the device is closed. Unlike Huawei’s Mate XT series, the Z TriFold positions its cover screen on the back, while the tri-folding screen folds inward to the center.

The expansive folding display measures an impressive 10 inches diagonally when fully unfolded, offering a resolution of 2160 x 1584 pixels, a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and peak brightness of 1,600 nits. A subtle punch-hole on the right houses the 10MP front-facing camera, and the screen comes pre-applied with a protective film, consistent with other Z series foldables.

The 6.5-inch cover display features a 2520 x 1080 resolution, a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and a 21:9 aspect ratio. It boasts a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 protection, and also includes a 10MP selfie camera.

On the software front, the Galaxy Z TriFold runs One UI 8 based on Android 16, taking full advantage of its large display with advanced multitasking capabilities. Users can operate three full-sized apps side-by-side in portrait mode. Additionally, the Z TriFold is the first Samsung phone to support standalone Samsung DeX, delivering a desktop-like interface accessible from the Quick Settings panel. Paired with a mouse and keyboard, it functions as a portable workstation.

The device’s sleek design is achieved with an Advanced Armor Aluminum frame, measuring just 3.9mm at its thinnest point. It weighs 309 grams and measures 159.2 x 75 x 12.9 mm when folded. Similar to the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7, the TriFold includes IP48 ingress protection against dust and water.

Under the hood, the Z TriFold houses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, also found in the Z Fold7, though it lags one generation behind the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. It pairs with 16GB of RAM and offers 512GB or 1TB of storage.
The rear camera setup mirrors that of the Z Fold7, featuring a 200MP main sensor (ISOCELL HP2), a 10MP 3x telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultrawide camera.

Powering the device is a 5,600mAh three-cell battery distributed across the phone’s three back panels. It supports 45W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.
The Galaxy Z TriFold will be available exclusively in Crafted Black and will launch at KRW 3,594,000 (approximately $2,450) in South Korea starting Friday, December 12. Samsung confirmed plans to expand availability to China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE, and the United States in the near future.
