The iPhone 17 faced initial challenges with Adobe's experimental camera app, Project Indigo, specifically regarding the front-facing selfie camera. However, a significant bug fix has just been released, allowing users to once again use the iPhone 17's selfie camera within the app. This update not only restores the front camera’s functionality but also resolves multiple image quality and stability issues.
What is Project Indigo?
Project Indigo is a free iPhone camera app created by Adobe, designed for mobile photography enthusiasts seeking sharper and clearer images without the need for an Adobe account. It features manual camera controls, a Long Exposure mode, and enhanced digital zoom using multi-frame super-resolution technology.
While Adobe recommends using devices like the iPhone 15 Pro or newer for the best experience, the iPhone 17 release in September 2025 initially did not support the app fully, limiting functionality to only rear cameras.
The Front Camera Issue and Resolution
When the iPhone 17 first gained compatibility with Project Indigo on October 25, 2025, its front-facing camera remained unusable within the app, causing frustration among users. This limitation has now been addressed thanks to an important bug fix pushed out by the development team.
In addition to enabling the iPhone 17’s selfie camera, the update fixed several bugs, including viewfinder flickering and noisy blue-tinted images, improving the overall stability and image quality of the app.

Looking Ahead
The app continues to be actively improved and maintained by its creators. Currently available only on iOS, Project Indigo invites all iPhone users, not just those with the iPhone 17, to explore advanced photography features. Android users will need to wait for a future release.
