Qualcomm introduced its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship chipset in September, followed shortly by a standard Gen 5 version. The OnePlus 15R, launching internationally on December 17, will be the first smartphone to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor. Qualcomm has also confirmed that Motorola plans to release a device powered by this chipset, though the Lenovo-owned company has yet to provide official details.
Reliable leakster Evan Blass has disclosed that Motorola’s upcoming smartphone, codenamed "Urus," will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC. He describes Urus as a non-foldable flagship device, which is expected to launch as the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra. Meanwhile, a Motorola phone featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 may debut under the Razr 70 Ultra name.
Motorola Edge 70Currently, the Edge 70 series includes a single model: the Motorola Edge 70, unveiled last month. This device is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset and sports a 6.7-inch 120Hz display with a resolution of 1,220p. It is equipped with a 4,800 mAh battery and features three 50MP cameras—one front and two rear sensors.
