iPhone 17 Teardown Reveals Familiar Repair Process and High Component Costs

Zack from JerryRigEverything has released a teardown of the standard iPhone 17, following previous teardowns of the iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro. The video also reveals official Apple repair part prices for the iPhone 17.

Opening the iPhone 17 starts by removing two pentalobe screws at the bottom of the device, costing just $0.18 each.

For battery replacement, the back glass needs to be heated to soften the adhesive, allowing the phone to open like a book. Removing a few more screws then frees the back panel.

Apple’s official repair pricing is steep: a replacement back glass costs $159, while a new battery is priced at $99. However, this decreases to $51 if you return your old battery. Screen replacements are the most expensive at $329. Other component costs include $199 for the front-facing camera and Face ID sensor, $169 for the dual rear cameras, $67 for the earpiece and 5G mmWave antenna, and $67.08 for the Taptic Engine.
