Huawei has officially launched the Mate 80 and Mate 80 Pro smartphones, both sharing many components and a similar visual design. Let's explore their key features.

Both devices include a 6.75-inch LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1280x2832 pixels. The panel supports 1.07 billion colors and full P3 color gamut coverage. Additionally, it offers 1440Hz PWM dimming and a 300Hz touch sampling rate. Huawei claims this is the brightest smartphone panel to date, reaching up to 8,000 nits. The screen is protected by the second-generation Kunlun Glass.

Huawei Mate 80 Pro

Both phones feature a 3D Time-of-Flight (ToF) face scanning camera on the front and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. Satellite communication support is also included.

The Mate 80 Pro is powered by the Kirin 9030 chipset, while the Mate 80 is equipped with the Kirin 9020. Huawei states the Kirin 9030 offers a 35% performance boost over the 9020, which itself is 35% faster than the Kirin 9010. The Mate 80 Pro Max uses the Kirin 9030 Pro, delivering an additional 42% performance gain over the 9020, making it roughly 7% faster than the Kirin 9030 non-Pro variant. Both Mate 80 models start with 12GB of RAM, expandable to 16GB in higher configurations. The Pro Max model comes exclusively with 16GB of RAM.

Each phone houses a large 5,750mAh battery. The Mate 80 Pro supports faster charging speeds of up to 100W wired and 80W wireless, whereas the Mate 80 offers 66W wired and 50W wireless charging.

In terms of photography, both models feature a triple rear camera setup and a 13MP selfie camera with an autofocus f/2.0 lens.

The Mate 80 includes a 50MP wide-angle camera with a variable aperture from f/1.4 to f/4.0 and a 1/1.28-inch RYYB sensor. It also has a 40MP ultrawide lens with an f/2.2 aperture and a 12MP telephoto camera offering 5.5x zoom with a 125mm f/3.4 lens.

The Mate 80 Pro retains the same wide and ultrawide cameras but upgrades the telephoto to a 48MP sensor with 4x zoom (92.5mm focal length) and a brighter f/2.1 aperture.

Both camera systems utilize Huawei’s second-generation Red Maple imaging chip, which enhances image processing and color accuracy.
