Huawei has unveiled its latest foldable smartphone, the Mate X7, featuring several significant upgrades over its predecessor. Notable improvements include enhanced IP58 and IP59 ingress protection ratings, the powerful Kirin 9030 Pro chipset, an upgraded telephoto camera, and a slightly larger battery.
The Mate X7 is slimmer and lighter than the Mate X6. It measures 9.5mm when folded and 4.5mm unfolded, weighing 235 grams—4 grams less than the previous model—while maintaining its robust aluminum frame.
With IP58 and IP59 certifications, the Mate X7 is dust-resistant and protected against water splashes and close-range high-pressure water jets, ensuring enhanced durability.
The device sports slightly larger displays: a 6.49-inch cover screen with a 20.4:9 aspect ratio and an 8-inch main screen with an 8:7.3 ratio. Both screens utilize LTPO OLED technology with a variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz, complemented by 1,440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming for superior visual comfort.
Camera-wise, the Mate X7 retains the 50MP main sensor from its predecessor, featuring an RYYB sensor, a 10-stop physical variable aperture (f/1.4-4.0), and optical image stabilization (OIS). The telephoto camera is upgraded to a 50MP sensor with a wider f/2.2 aperture and 3.5x optical zoom, while the ultra-wide shooter offers 40MP resolution. For selfies, there are two 8MP cameras—one on the cover screen and another on the inner display.

Powering the Mate X7 is Huawei’s flagship Kirin 9030 Pro chipset, also found in the newly announced Mate 80 Pro and Mate 80 Pro Max. Though detailed specifications remain limited, the System on Chip (SoC) reportedly features a nine-core ARMv8 architecture, including a prime core clocked at 2.75GHz, four performance cores at 2.27GHz, and four efficiency cores at 1.72GHz. The device is available with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and offers storage options up to 1TB.
The Mate X7 is equipped with a dual-cell silicon-carbon (Si-C) battery with a total capacity of 5,600mAh. It supports fast charging at 66W wired and 50W wireless. The phone runs HarmonyOS 6 out of the box in China and includes satellite connectivity features.

Available in Black, White, Purple, and Red, the Mate X7 starts at CNY 12,999 (approximately $1,830) for the 12GB RAM with 256GB storage variant. The 12GB/512GB version is priced at CNY 13,999 ($1,970).

The Collector’s Edition with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage is available for CNY 14,999 ($2,111), while the top-tier 20GB RAM and 1TB storage model costs CNY 17,999 ($2,534). The Mate X7 will be available for open sales in China starting December 5.
