European customers can now order the all-new, all-electric Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake. This stylish wagon blends a sleek, athletic design with long-range capability and cutting-edge technology. Ideal for families and active individuals seeking more space without compromising style, the new model presents a compelling option—provided buyers are comfortable with the premium price tag.
Mercedes offers two robust models from launch, both powered by the same 85 kWh lithium-ion battery. The base model, CLA 250+ Shooting Brake with EQ technology, features a rear-wheel-drive configuration delivering 200 kW of power. It impresses with an estimated range of up to 477 miles per full charge under the WLTP cycle. Pricing starts at $66,888 in Germany, with private lease options from $474 monthly.

For enhanced performance and traction, the range-topping CLA 350 4MATIC Shooting Brake with EQ technology adds a second motor to provide all-wheel drive. This model delivers a total output of 260 kW and 380 lb-ft of torque, starting at $72,226 while offering a strong range of up to 454 miles. Both models utilize an advanced 800V electrical architecture supporting DC fast charging up to 320 kW, enabling drivers to gain up to 196 miles of range in just 10 minutes at compatible chargers. We previously tested the sedan version’s real-world range—read about it here.
The Shooting Brake’s signature extended roofline enhances practicality without sacrificing elegance. Sporting sporty design elements like distinct "power domes" on the hood and a sleek, flat rear profile, the interior offers versatile space with rear seats folding in a 40:20:40 split to expand the cargo capacity to a substantial 45.6 ft³.

Loading is simplified by the standard electric EASY-PACK tailgate. Additional utility features include standard roof rails and a towing capacity of up to 3,968 lb for the all-wheel-drive model. A 3.57 ft³ front trunk (frunk) provides extra space, ideal for storing charging cables separately. The panoramic fixed glass roof extends smoothly to the rear, creating a bright, airy cabin atmosphere and features advanced coatings that reduce summer heat and retain warmth during winter.
At the heart of the driving experience is Mercedes-Benz’s state-of-the-art MB.OS platform, which transforms the vehicle into a connected smart device with supercomputing power and cloud connectivity. This allows for over-the-air updates encompassing driving assistance and other features. The MBUX Virtual Assistant, enhanced by Microsoft and Google AI, offers intuitive, natural voice interaction—making communication with the car feel effortless.

Passenger comfort is also prioritized with an optional 14-inch screen providing personalized entertainment, including access to streaming services like Disney+ and cloud gaming via Boosteroid. The navigation system is upgraded with Google Maps integration and Mercedes-Benz’s Electric Intelligence, which plans the fastest routes and optimally prepares the battery for fast charging stops.
Responding to customer feedback, Mercedes redesigned the steering wheel to reincorporate traditional physical controls like rocker switches for cruise control and a rotary volume dial. These blend seamlessly with capacitive touch panels that now provide satisfying tactile feedback.

Safety features include the standard DISTRONIC adaptive cruise control across all European models. Buyers can upgrade to the MB.DRIVE ASSIST package, offering steering support for an SAE Level 2 semi-autonomous driving experience. The new Lane Change Assist simplifies highway maneuvers, allowing lane changes with a single turn signal action.
The CLA Shooting Brake combines premium design, exceptional electric range, and sophisticated technology, standing out in the luxury electric segment. Mercedes hopes the strong demand for the CLA sedan will extend to this versatile wagon, which adds practical cargo space and towing capacity for daily use and longer journeys.

This fresh addition to Mercedes’s electric lineup, however, comes at a premium. German prices are lower than in the UK, where the AMG Line 350+ model with just a $1,170 400V charging upgrade and minimal extras reaches a steep total of $101,207. This positions the CLA Shooting Brake firmly at the higher end of the luxury market, reflecting its advanced features and exclusivity.
