DJI has officially launched the Osmo Action 6, their newest action camera that promises impressive imaging capabilities thanks to its large 1/1.1" type sensor and variable aperture system. Designed to deliver outstanding video quality and advanced features, the Osmo Action 6 targets enthusiasts seeking superior low-light performance and versatile shooting options.
The Osmo Action 6 features a wide 155-degree native field of view and a sensor capable of capturing up to 13.5 stops of dynamic range. It supports 4K video recording at up to 120 frames per second in 4:3 aspect ratio, ideal for smooth slow-motion footage. Thanks to its larger sensor, the camera excels in low-light situations. The inclusion of SuperNight mode enables clear 4K video capture at 60fps in darker environments. Additionally, DJI’s 10-bit D-Log M color profile offers enhanced detail in highlights and shadows, while the on-screen D-Log M preview lets creators monitor exposure and color in real-time.
A notable new feature is the 4K Custom mode, allowing users to shoot with a square sensor and crop after recording, eliminating the need to decide between vertical or horizontal orientations upfront. This flexible shooting mode is complemented by a 2x lossless zoom at 4K resolution. Of course, on-board image stabilization is built in, ensuring smooth footage under various conditions.
The rugged design of the Osmo Action 6 supports waterproof use up to 20 meters without any case, extending to 60 meters when paired with an additional waterproof housing (sold separately). It incorporates a color temperature sensor for accurate underwater color reproduction and includes a built-in water pressure gauge to log dive data.
Battery life is impressive with a 1,950 mAh cell capable of lasting up to four hours, and it supports rapid charging, reaching 80% capacity in just 22 minutes. The camera comes with 50GB of internal storage to accommodate large video files. Both the primary 2.5-inch screen (400x712 resolution) and the secondary 1.46-inch display (342x342 resolution) feature 800-nit peak brightness, ensuring visibility even in bright outdoor settings.
Pricing for the Osmo Action 6 starts at €379 for the Standard Combo, which includes the camera itself, an Osmo Action Extreme Battery Plus (1,950 mAh), a Dual-Direction Quick-Release Adapter Mount, a Curved Adhesive Base, a Locking Screw, a USB-C to USB-C PD Cable, and an Anti-Slip Pad.
For more extensive accessory options, the Adventure Combo is available at €479. It adds two extra Osmo Action Extreme Battery Plus units, additional adapter mounts and locking screws, the Osmo Multifunctional Battery Case 3, and a 1.5-meter Extension Rod to the Standard Combo’s contents.
