Samsung Launches Smart Keyboard with Multi-Device Bluetooth Connectivity and Dedicated DeX Key

Source: Date:

Samsung introduces the Smart Keyboard, a sleek and versatile tenkeyless keyboard designed to seamlessly connect with your Galaxy phone, tablet, and laptop simultaneously. Perfectly suited for multitasking and designed with Samsung’s DeX experience in mind, this keyboard offers convenient Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity for up to three devices.

Switching between multiple devices is effortless via a dedicated key, which is complemented by LED indicators displaying the currently active device. Notably, this keyboard doesn’t rely on a 2.4GHz dongle, making it ideal for streamlined desk setups – especially those paired with external monitors to take full advantage of DeX’s desktop-like interface.

Known simply as the Samsung Smart Keyboard, it features a dedicated DeX button, while function keys F1 through F3 double as customizable app shortcuts. These enhancements require Samsung devices running One UI 8.0 or later to function.

There’s also an AI key integrated for quick access to voice assistants. On Android phones and tablets, this key activates Samsung Bixby or Google Gemini. For those using Windows systems, it launches Microsoft Copilot, streamlining productivity across platforms.

The keyboard boasts a slim 4.3mm profile with an aluminum finish for durability and a premium feel. Weighing just 218 grams and featuring a 19mm key pitch, it offers a comfortable typing experience. Power is supplied by a single CR2032 coin cell battery, promising long-lasting use, though Samsung has not specified exact battery life metrics.

Using a coin cell battery is an unconventional choice compared to the more common AAA batteries, which typically offer longer runtime and rechargeable options. Additionally, Samsung has not released a companion wireless mouse, which may limit the convenience of switching between devices. Without a mouse that supports multi-device pairing, users will have to switch keyboard and mouse connections independently—a potential drawback in multi-device workflows. This gap leaves room for competitors like Logitech to maintain an advantage.
