Samsung Internet Browser Set for Major Enhancements in Upcoming Update

For Android users seeking a versatile and feature-packed browser, the Samsung Internet Browser has long been a top choice. Although it started as a Galaxy-exclusive app, it is now available for all Android devices through the Google Play Store and the Galaxy Store, allowing more users to enjoy its robust functionality. From customizable search engines to advanced tab management, this browser continues to evolve with user needs in mind.

Easy Access on Any Android Device

Despite its name, the Samsung Internet Browser isn’t limited to Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets. If you have an Android device, you can easily download the browser from the Google Play Store. Those interested in testing the latest features early can opt into the beta version of the browser here. Galaxy users also have the option to install or update it directly via the Galaxy Store, including access to the beta releases.

Exciting New Features Coming with One UI 8.5

A recent announcement from a trusted source on "X" (@GalaxyTechie) confirms that Samsung is preparing a significant update to its Internet Browser with the upcoming One UI 8.5, set to launch alongside the Galaxy S26 series early next year. Among the changes, users will notice a fresh new icon and an updated welcome screen.

The address bar design is also getting a makeover: not only will it float for easier access, but it will disappear when scrolling to maximize screen space and prevent content obstruction.

Improved Tab Management and Customized Controls

The tab layout will adopt a gallery-style grid view, enhancing user control and ease of navigation when managing multiple open pages. Alongside this, a compact floating bar will enable users to reorder buttons to suit their browsing habits, streamlining the interface for quicker access to desired functions.

This update also introduces a new “like” feature for videos directly within the browser, providing a quick way to engage with content without leaving your current page.

Pop-Up Blocking and Secure APK Installation

One of the most welcomed upcoming features is the ability to block fixed-position pop-ups, which often disrupt the reading experience by obscuring content. This will allow uninterrupted browsing without annoying pop-up overlays.

Another noteworthy addition focuses on enhancing security during app downloads. When initiating an APK download, the browser will check if the app is available via the Galaxy Store — if so, the installation will proceed from there, offering a safer installation process.

User Convenience Enhancements

When closing the browser, users will be prompted with a pop-up offering the option to close all open tabs simultaneously. For those who prefer to manage tabs individually, this pop-up can be disabled to avoid recurring interruptions.
