While Samsung prepares to launch the Galaxy S26 line, its focus also extends to upcoming mid-range phones. One model creating buzz is the Galaxy A57, which may surprise fans by offering faster charging than Samsung’s flagship smartphones.
Galaxy A57 Charging Might Surpass Galaxy S26’s
The Galaxy A57 has recently appeared on China’s 3C certification website. The listing for model SM-A5760 indicates support for wired charging up to 45W.
In comparison, recent rumors suggest that the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Plus will continue with 25W wired charging. This would mark a continuation of Samsung’s trend where mid-range devices receive faster wired charging than flagships.
The Ongoing Charging Disparity
The Galaxy S25 only supports 25W charging, while the mid-range Galaxy A56 handled up to 45W—same as the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This charging speed gap between more affordable and premium tiers appears to be an ongoing pattern for Samsung.
For context, other brands like OnePlus are pushing much faster wired charging technologies—such as 80W for the OnePlus 15’s large 7,300 mAh battery. Even the latest iPhone 17 manages 36W charging speeds in real-world testing.
How vital is charging speed to you?
Based on a small poll, 60% of voters consider charging speed one of the most important smartphone specifications.
The Galaxy A57, expected to launch around March next year, will likely be powered by a mid-tier Exynos 1680 chipset. However, it may lack wireless charging and telephoto camera capabilities found in flagship devices. It might also miss out on some advanced Galaxy AI features Samsung plans for the Galaxy S26.
Time for Samsung to Rethink Charging Priorities
The recurring scenario where Samsung’s mid-range devices outperform flagships in charging speed leaves many questioning the company’s strategy in balancing premium features and charging technology.
