In essence, the Pixel Tablet dock turns an otherwise idle device into a versatile smart assistant akin to an Amazon Echo — all while ensuring the tablet remains charged and easy to locate.
This convenience addresses a common frustration: picking up a device that’s been unused for days or weeks, only to find the battery dead. Docking the Pixel Tablet guarantees a fully charged device in a known spot.
More Than Just a Dock: The Smart Speaker Capability
While the speaker on the dock isn’t mind-blowing, it’s functional. Equipped with far-field microphones, the dock doubles as a speakerphone for hands-free calls, adding another layer of practicality.

Why Haven’t Other Manufacturers Followed?

Even though the Pixel Tablet launched three years ago, no current iPads or Galaxy Tabs provide this dock-and-transform functionality — which is a missed opportunity in the tablet market.
Giving tablets a meaningful purpose during the vast majority of their idle time is a smart concept. It’s unfortunate that neither Apple, Samsung, nor Lenovo appears to have embraced this innovation.
