Samsung is reportedly gearing up to unveil its first-ever tri-fold smartphone next month, according to several inside sources. Despite the company’s typically tight-lipped approach, some intriguing unofficial specifications and details about the device have surfaced, sparking excitement among tech enthusiasts.
The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is said to feature a thickness of 4.2mm when fully unfolded and 14mm when folded, making it significantly thicker than the Galaxy Z Fold7, which measures 4.2mm opened and 8.9mm closed. This increase in thickness is expected due to the extra fold mechanism.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold expected launch date: December 5
The device will reportedly sport a 6.5-inch cover display, similar to the Z Fold7, alongside a notably wider 10-inch inner screen. Unlike the somewhat squarish 8-inch display of the Fold7, this larger panel is said to have a widescreen aspect ratio to enhance media consumption and multitasking.
Battery capacity also receives an upgrade with the Galaxy Z TriFold housing a 5,600mAh pack distributed across three individual cells—one for each fold segment. This differs from the Z Fold7’s 4,400mAh battery, which is split across two cells.
Korean publication The Chosun has reportedly corroborated the timing and these specifications. The tri-fold phone will be produced in limited quantities and carry a premium price tag, available only in select markets, making it a niche luxury device for early adopters and collectors.
