Widespread T-Mobile 5G Outage Affects Hundreds Across the U.S.

Source: Date:

Many T-Mobile users across the United States are currently experiencing disruptions to their 5G service. If you find your mobile device struggling to connect, rest assured it’s unlikely to be the issue with your device itself. Instead, the problem appears to stem from T-Mobile’s network, with reports pouring in from social media and outage tracking platforms like Downdetector.

Scope of the Outage

The exact severity of the outage remains unclear at this time, but reports indicate that the disruption is far from minor. Users are experiencing difficulties not only with mobile 5G connections but also with T-Mobile’s 5G Home Internet service.

Among approximately 500 reports on Downdetector, many fall under the “no signal” category, which is the most severe type of issue for wireless users. Some customers describe fluctuating connectivity, including intermittent emergency calling capability or receiving just a single bar of barely usable signal.

"I have Metro, which runs on T-Mobile’s network. I'm located in Bristol, Tennessee, and my phone repeatedly stated that the carrier disabled my voice connection. Turning off Wi-Fi shows no signal at all. It seems many others in East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia are experiencing this outage as well. I checked my bill, and payment went through this morning, so it’s not on my end."

What’s particularly alarming is the wide geography affected by this outage. Users from New York, Washington, Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and more are reporting service interruptions.

On a somewhat positive note, the number of visible reports on Reddit and other social media seems relatively low for an outage potentially impacting a major carrier on a nationwide scale. This may be due to users being unable to post updates if their connection is down, indicating the actual number affected could be much higher.

We will continue monitoring the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available. Stay tuned for further developments.
