Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Chips to Support Android for Laptops

Source: Date:

Qualcomm has expanded its Snapdragon X series computer chips, with the latest Snapdragon X2 chips set to be featured in Windows laptops starting in spring 2026. In a recent development, Qualcomm has also begun working on making its X series chips compatible with Android, paving the way for Android-powered computers.

Google's planned merger of ChromeOS with Android aligns with this move, indicating a shift towards standardized Android builds for laptops. This development is anticipated to inject new life into the laptop market, which has remained stagnant for some time.

While Qualcomm has enjoyed success with its Snapdragon X chips in Windows devices, the addition of Android support for laptops has the potential to bring about significant changes. The success of this endeavor will largely depend on Google's execution of the user interface and user experience, as the hardware itself is capable of supporting the transition seamlessly.
