Reuters reports that Fairphone, known for its ethical sourcing and sustainability initiatives, is entering the US market at a time when consumers are increasingly rejecting disposable electronics and demanding longer-lasting products.
According to Fairphone CEO, Raymond van Eck, the company sees the US as a promising market due to the advancing right-to-repair legislation nationwide.
Van Eck stated in November 2025, "Our strategy is built for uncertainty. The demand signal in the U.S. is clear. Right-to-repair legislation is advancing nationwide, creating a new opportunity for us."
Although Fairphone produces its devices in China like many other companies, it distinguishes itself with a focus on ethical sourcing, traceability in its supply chain, and sustainability initiatives that cover everything from mining to semiconductor components. Fairphone 6 offers extensive support, including eight years of updates, a five-year warranty, and guaranteed spare parts up to 2033.
The company will initially launch in the US through Amazon, with plans to expand into carrier channels, recognizing that over 90% of phones in the country are sold through mobile operators.
